Female Athlete Foundations
Our Lecture Series with Dr. Sunni Lomnicki
Dr. Lomnicki’s Female Athlete Foundations lecture series provides athletes, parents, and coaches with practical, science-based education on the unique physiological, biomechanical, and health considerations of the female athlete. This multi-lecture series translates complex concepts into clear, actionable strategies that support performance, durability, and long-term health across all stages of sport participation—from youth and recreational athletes to competitive and high-level performers.

Topics covered throughout the series include:
-
Female-specific training considerations across endurance and strength-based sports
-
Energy availability, recovery, and their roles in performance and injury risk
-
Education and support related to the Female Athlete Triad and RED-S, including hormonal and metabolic health
-
Bone health development and preservation throughout the athletic lifespan
-
Common overuse and running-related injuries in female athletes and strategies to reduce risk
-
The role of gut health, iron status, and systemic health in athletic performance
-
Recognizing warning signs that warrant further evaluation, testing, or referral

Each lecture emphasizes individualized care, realistic implementation, and current research—helping athletes make informed decisions while avoiding misinformation and one-size-fits-all approaches. The goal of the series is not only improved performance but sustainable health, resilience, and longevity throughout a female athlete’s career.
